Victoria Global Univesity awards Honorary Doctorate to Shri Rakesh Bedi

Mumbai: Known for his perfect comic timing, veteran actor Rakesh Bedi has added another feather to his cap. Earlier seen in cult films like Chashme Buddoor, Ram Teri Ganga Maili amongst others, Rakesh has also done noted work in television. Yeh Jo Hai Jindagi, Shrimaan Shrimati, FIR, Bhabhi Ji Ghar Par Hai are some of his popular comedy shows on small screen.

He is a known name in the theatre space too. His popular play Mera Woh Matlab Nahin Tha that features Anupam Kher and Neena Gupta travelled across the world in several countries. The actor was recently is conferred upon an Honorary Doctorate by Victoria Global University.

When contacted, an elated Rakesh Bedi says, “Around three months back I got a call  that they want to confer upon me an honorary doctorate for my contribution in acting in films TV & Theatre. They asked for my CV and sent it to VICTORIA GLOBAL UNIVERSITY for approval. Then last month they called me to say that my name had been approved for this honor. Subsequently on the 23rd of September their function was solemnized in the the Russian Centre for Science & culture, Embassy of the Russian Federation, New Delhi.”

“In a very formal function the doctorate was presented to me by Victoria Global University. I am really humbled and honored to receive this recognition for my work and thank all my friends and colleagues who have been a part of my journey. Though frankly speaking, the prefix of a Dr before my name sounds very odd to me,” actor concludes.

The second anniversary of NIER’s National Excellence Awards  was organized on 23/09/2017 at Russian Centre For Science & Culture, Embassy of Russian Federation, New Delhi by National Institute for Education & Research wherein distinguished personalities of various fields where awarded and many contributors were conferred upon Honorary Doctorate Awards from Victoria Global University.

The Function was attended by famous film & TV personality Mr. Rakesh Bedi & Ms. Mahima Chaudhary was also as distinguished guests. The famous personalities who were awarded including Dr Akhtar Haseeb, Vice Chancellor, Narendra Dev University of Agriculture & Technology, famous environmentalist Shri Vijay Pal Baghel, Famous Industrialist, writer and Lions Club Former Governor Shri Ramnath Gutgutia, Famous Cartoonist Harvinder Mankkar, Dr Namita Rajput, Principal, Aurobindo College, Delhi University, New Delhi, Dr Jaggannath Patnayak, Vice Chancellor, Kalinga University, Acharya Shailesh Tiwary, Dharm Guru & Astrologer Dr. C.M.
